In a major development, the Indian Navy’s third stealth Scorpene-class Submarine INS Karanj was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Wednesday at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
Today the 3rd Scorpene-class submarine Karanj was launched at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commissioned 'INSKalvari' into the Indian Navy, which is the first made-in-India Scorpene class submarine on Thursday Morning. Kalvari is named after the dreaded Tiger Shark, a deadly deep sea predator of the Indian Ocean.
To strengthen France's fast developing defense cooperation with India, French Defence Minister, Florence Parly visited India for two days from 27th October. It is her maiden official visit to India. She will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Saturday.
