Paving the way for a high profile battle in north Karnataka’s Badami segment, BJP has fielded Ballari MP B. Sriramulu against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. On the last day of nominations filing, BJP finally announced Sriramulu’s candidature for prestigious Badami seat in Bagalkot district. CM Siddaramaiah and Sriramulu both are contesting from two seats. Badami which comes under Bagalkot Lok Sabha is currently with BJP’s P C Gaddigoudar.

Reacting to the criticism of opposition parties over the two-seat contest theory, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that he never had any plan to contest from Badami assembly segment in Bagalkot district. Speaking to the media here, the Chief Minister slammed opposition parties for unnecessarily speculative reports about his poll plan. Earlier, rumors were at rife about Siddaramaiah’s second assembly segment reportedly from Badami.
