Still, many people (Especially the new generation) were unaware of this special day. According to a Forbes India report, Hindi was the third most spoken language in the world in 2021 with 600 million speakers and the main aim of the government behind celebrating Hindi Diwas is to promote the Hindi language.
TKS Elangovan said, "Hindi is the native tongue in only underdeveloped states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan."
In sum, political leaders of the Dravidian parties must abandon myopic language-centric “cultural narcissism” as a means to achieve political ends of gaining and retaining power. Earlier they realize and appreciate that culture changes are inevitable due to modernization processes, the better it is for them and the Tamil society.
