Nearly after two weeks when the defence ministry approved the proposal to grant Permanent Commission to women officers, the Indian Army has begun the process to invite applications from them.
The Ministry of Defence has issued the formal sanction letter for grant of permanent commission to women officers in the Indian Army, paving the way for empowering them to shoulder larger roles in the organization, Indian Army Spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand said.
Women officers will be granted Permanent Commission in the Indian Army in all the ten branches where they are inducted for Short Service Commission (SSC). In so far the Indian Air Force is concerned, all Branches, including Fighter Pilots, are now open for women officers.
