Chola era 3.5-Foot Murugan Idol found in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallankadu

Chennai, Mar 16: Locals found a stone idol of Murugan in the sand on the coast of Kosasthalai river in Tiruvallankadu , Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. It seems that some children from that area found this idol while playing in the sand. Later, the debt department led by the local Tahsildar Mathiyalagan reached the place.

 

 

 

 

Officials found that the statue is about 3.5 feet tall and weighs 150 kg. The idol has a crown on its head, four arms and two legs. Archaeologists say that the structure of this idol may date back to the 12th century AD. Tehsildar Mathialagan, who took out the statue, said that after that it will be handed over to the museum authorities for public viewing.
