New Delhi, Feb 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his Sunday (Feb 25) in Dwarka by offering prayers at the famous Dwarkadish Krishna Mandir-- in the morning. The entire visit is filled with a spectrum of subjects that the Prime Minister is handling while in the state.
Situated at the cusp of the Gomti River and the Arabian Sea in Gujarat, the majestic Dwarkadhish Temple is an important Hindu pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites, especially the devotees of Bhagwan Krishna, Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the Char Dham. The PM was later gifted a idol of Bhagwan Krishna by the priests of the temple.
Inauguration of Sudarshan Setu
Earlier in the day, the PM inaugurated Sudarshan Setu, the country's longest cable-stayed bridge spanning around 2.32 km, connecting the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka in Gujarat. The bridge, previously known as the 'Signature Bridge', has been renamed 'Sudarshan Setu' or Sudarshan Bridge. Beyt Dwarka is an island near Okha port, approximately 30 km from Dwarka town, where the famous Dwarkadhish temple of Bhagwan Krishna is situated.
Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 979 crore, the bridge features a four-lane road, 27.20 metres in width, with 2.50-metre wide footpaths on either side. 'Sudarshan Setu' is India's longest cable-stayed bridge, linking the Okha mainland and the Beyt Dwarka island in Gujarat.
Besides, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 4150 crore on Sunday. The project inaugurated by the PM, includes a pipeline project at Vadinar involving the replacement of existing offshore lines, abandoning the existing pipeline end manifold (PLEM), and relocating the entire system to a nearby new location. PM Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 200 healthcare infrastructure projects worth over Rs 11,500 crore across 23 states and Union territories.
Underwater Advent at Dwarka
PM Modi on Sunday also dived into the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat to perform an underwater puja in the remains of the ancient submerged city of Bhagwan Krishna's Dwarka. PM Modi shared pictures of himself underwater, wearing scuba gear. In the photos shared by the PM on his X handle, he can be seen in scuba gear and descending into the azure waters to offer prayers at the site steeped in historical and spiritual significance.
The photographs of the PM went viral on social media. PM Modi also paid homage to the ancient city, making an offering of peacock feathers--a symbolic tribute to Bhagwan Krishna who founded the ancient city. Sharing his experience, PM Modi said that he felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion.
Blessings of Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday sought blessings from Dwarka Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati ji Maharaj at Shankaracharya Math Shardapeeth in Dwarka, Gujarat. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister spent 20 minutes alone with Dwarka Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati.
Political jab at Congress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at the Congress, saying that during its tenure, the budget for infrastructure was looted through scams, and he said that Congress used power to conceal these scams. While addressing a public rally in Gujarat's Dwarka, PM Modi said that Congress's intention to provide facilities to the common people was "maligned."
"Those who ruled the country for a long time did not have the willpower. Their intention to provide facilities to the common people was maligned. All of Congress' power was used to make only one family prosperous. How would they have remembered to do something for the country?
