Vikrant Massey, who is currently basking in the success of his last film, ‘12TH Fail’, has recenlty landed in controvery over his 2018's tweet in which he had shared Hinduphobic cartoon about Lord Ram-Sita.

Back in 2018, Vikrant had shared the Lord Ram-Sita political cartoon in connection with the rape cases that were making headlines at the time. The cartoon depicted a conversation between Lord Ram and Sita in connection with some rape cases that were prominent in the news at the time. Vikrant's tweet had captioned the cartoon with a statement expressing a preference for being kidnapped by Ravan rather than being associated with Lord Ram's supporters.

“I’m so glad I was kidnapped by Ravan and not by your bhakts!” Goddess Sita was seen telling Lord Ram in cartoon while she held a newspaper in her hand. “Half baked potatoes and half baked nationalists will only cause a pain in the gut. #KathuaCasr #Unnao #Shame,” he wrote in the now-deleted post.

“In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, I’d like to say a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community. But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release (realise) the distasteful nature of it. The same could have been said without adding the cartoon which was published in a newspaper,” he said.

“I’d with utmost humility like to apologise to each and everyone who has been hurt As you all by now know, that I hold all faiths, beliefs and religions with the highest possible regard. We all grow up with time and reflect upon our mistakes. This was mine. Regards,” Vikrant added.

The news of the actor surfaced online after a Mumbai-based advocate Ashutosh Dubey shared a screenshot of the chat he had with Vikrant Massey ahead of the latter's apology.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Vikrant has mocked Hindu gods, earlier too he had shared lot of Hinduphobic content on social media while making fun of  Hindu gods or rituals.

Earlier, Vikrant Massey mocked Yami Gautam on Instagram after the actress shared a photograph from her wedding ceremony. Replying to a photograph where Yami Gautam was holding jewellery, Vikrant Massey commented that she was looking “pure & pious like Radhe Maa”.

Radhe Maa is a self-proclaimed ‘Godwoman’ who is universally ridiculed for her preposterous cosmetic choices. She is often spotted wearing bright red lipstick and bright red clothing. Since Yami Gautam was wearing red for her marriage ceremony as well, Vikrant Massey compared her to Radhe Maa.

There is significant outrage over the comment. Kangana Ranaut called Massey a cockroach and commented ‘lao meri chappal’ (bring my slippers).

Vikrant talks about his brother who converted to Islam

Vikrant said, “My brother’s name is Moeen, I am called Vikrant. You’d wonder why the name Moeen? He converted to Islam, my family let him change his religion. They said, ‘Beta (Son), if you find satisfaction in this, then go ahead.’ He converted at the age of 17, it is a big step. My mother is Sikhni, my father is church-going Christian, he goes to church twice a week. From a young age, I have seen a lot of arguments related to religion and spirituality.”
