New Delhi, Feb 21: As Congress announced that Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day visit to the UK to deliver two lectures at Cambridge University, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a cryptic post of him being a puppet of a mysterious person which according to netizens is George Soros, a controversial Hungarian-American businessman and a self-proclaimed philanthropist.

Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh also said February 22 and 23 will be rest days for the yatra after its Kanpur leg on Wednesday. "February 26th to March 1st will be break days to enable Rahul Gandhi to fulfil his long-standing commitment to deliver two special lectures at his alma mater Cambridge University (UK) on February 27th and February 28th and also to enable him to attend other important meetings in New Delhi,” Ramesh said in a post on X.
BJP shares cryptic post
Taking a dig at the development, the BJP shared a 12-second clip of Rahul Gandhi being a puppet of a mysterious man. However, it is quite evident that the mysterious man happens to be George Soros as the tie has logos of the Open Society Foundation and its name, the so-called nonprofit organization of the billionaire.

Netizens were also quick to notice about the mysterious man. They also linked him to George Soros.
Interestingly, the Open Society Foundations (OSF) of Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros is a member of the University of Cambridge’s Guild of Benefactors since 2013. It provides post-graduate scholarships in "programs that represent a long-term response to ongoing social and political transformations in the countries served".
Apart from all this, Rahul Gandhi also visited the University last year came at a time when Soros targeted India and the Modi government over the Adani controversy.

It is pertinent to mention that in February 2023, Soros had accused PM Modi of being silent on the Adani crisis as he claims that latter has a good relationship with Indian businessman Gautam Adani. "PM Modi is silent on the subject, but he will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in parliament," Soros said in a speech ahead of the Munich Security Conference. “This will significantly weaken Modi’s stranglehold on India’s federal government and open the door to push for much-needed institutional reforms. I may be naive, but I expect a democratic revival in India.”
There are several "intellectuals", apart from politicians who has links with George Soros who have been trying to prove PM Modi as an ‘electoral autocrat'. This comes in the backdrop against Sweden-based V-Dem Institute, which includes George Soros' Open Society Foundations as one of its funders, calling India an 'electoral autocracy' in its 'Democracy Report 2021'. "The world's largest democracy has turned into an electoral autocracy," it stated.
