The phrase "Toota Hai Gabba ka Ghamand" was coined and became instantly popular as the Indian cricket team achieved which was not achieved by any country. Ajinkya Rahane & Co had scripted history after becoming the first team to win a Test at Gabba, Australia.

Do you guys remember former Australian Test captain Tim Paine was embroiled in a verbal exchange with Ashwin in Sydney? Paine could be heard saying: “I can’t wait to get you to the Gabba, Ash.” Well, Paine’s words may well have returned to haunt him, as Australia suffered its first loss in Brisbane since 1988, and India scripted a series win for the ages.

Well, this is how it went-

The series was leveled at 1-1, and the Men in Blue had a daunting task as Australia had always won a Test match in Brisbane. But the Ajinkya Rahane-led side confidently went ahead and won the match by three wickets.

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first and posted a respectable total of 369 runs in 115.2 overs, where Marnus Labuschagne scored a brilliant knock of 108 runs. Former Australian skipper Tim Paine scored a half-century whereas Steve Smith, Matthew Wade, and Cameron Green scored 36, 45, and 47 respectively.

Indian bowlers like T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur, and Washington Sundar took three wickets each. India had conceded a lead of 33 runs and was skittled for 336 in 111.4 overs. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur scored 62 and 67 runs and helped India recover from 186/6. They stitched a partnership of 123 runs for the seventh wicket.

Josh Hazlewood was the pick among the Australian bowlers as he took a five-wicket haul and conceded 57 runs in the 24.4 overs he bowled. The Tim Paine-led side scored 284 runs in their second innings and gave India the target of 328 runs. Steve Smith was Australia’s highest run-scorer as he scored 55 runs. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj also took a fifer whereas Shardul Thakur took a four-wicket haul.

It was Shubman Gill’s match-winning knock of 91 runs and Cheteshwar Pujara's gritty knock of 56 runs off 211 balls that helped the team. Besides, India’s star wicket-keeper batter Riushabh Pant scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs off 138 balls and helped the team win the match in the third and final session of the fifth day.

With this, India did what even Indian cricket fans weren't expecting because there were a lot of injured players, and with new & inexperienced players coming in Rahane faced a stiff challenge, and that too after having a disastrous match in the first Test.
