Amid India-Bharat row, Akshay Kumar changes his film’s title to ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’

Amid the ongoing India's name change to Bharat debate, several celebrities have come forward in support of the development. In yet another such instance, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has come out in support of this move.

Akshay Kumar has changed the name of his forthcoming film to 'Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue.' Earlier it was titled 'Mission Ranigan: The Great Indian Rescue.' The title change was announced by the filmmakers along with the first look poster of the upcoming film.
 
Taking to X, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Heroes don’t wait for medals to do what’s right! Watch the story of Bharat’s true hero with Mission Raniganj in cinemas on 6th October. Teaser out tomorrow!” He shared posters of the movie which will be released on 6 October.
 
 
It seems like strong speculations have prompted the makers to change the title and replace ‘Indian’ with ‘Bharat’. Notably, there has been an strong buzz about changing India's name to Bharat which will be brought in by the government during Parliament's upcoming special session.
 

Mission Raniganj

 
The film is inspired by a real-life incident at “Raniganj Coalfield” and inspired from the heroic act of Late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill who led Bharat's coal mine rescue mission. The heroic Jaswant Singh Gill played a significant role in rescuing all the surviving miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Raniganj in November 1989 which was a successful rescue mission in Bharat against all odds.
 
 
Starring Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt, Omkar Das Manikpuri, ‘Mission Raniganj’ is an ode to the resilience, determination, and valor of the human spirit and engineering minds. The film also marks Tinu Suresh Desai's next thriller after Rustom, which won him massive critical and commercial acclaim.
 
 
The teaser of the film will be out on September 7 and it will release in theatres on October 6, 2023.
