India has formally integrated its first C-295 transport aircraft into the Indian Air Force (IAF), enhancing the force's tactical lift capabilities significantly. The aircraft was formally handed over to the Indian Air Force at Seville, Spain, and landed in Vadodara, India, on September 20. The aircraft was handed over to Air Force Chief BR Chaudhary after Defense Minister Rajnath Singh performed a customary ritual in which the Swastika insignia was placed on it.

The C-295, which is built for a variety of military missions, will be based at Agra Air Force Station, one of India's major air force facilities. This site is notable since it is home to the Airborne Refueling Squadron and the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS).
Agra was chosen as a critical location for the deployment of the C-295 because it is home to India's largest paratrooper training school. This specialized military aircraft is ideal for paratrooper missions.
The introduction of the C-295, according to Vishal Sharma, Secretary of the Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber, has boosted India's aerial capabilities. The aircraft may be used for a variety of missions, including military logistics delivery, troop transport, and emergency response.
India intends to purchase 56 C-295 planes from Spain to replace its outdated fleet of Avro 748 planes.
While the aircraft has been allocated to the Indian Air Force's 11 Squadron at Vadodara Air Force Station, it will be stationed at Agra Air Force Station, bolstering India's strategic airlift capabilities.
