The three women; Krishnaveni, S Ramya & N Ranjitha, have reportedly completed their training to become temple priests under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Tamil Nadu state government. They will be soon designated as assistant priests at temples in the state.

According to reports, the department runs six priest training schools where people from all communities can take the training to become priests. This is the first time that women enrolled in the course. Interestingly, while son Udhaynidhi Stalin continues to stand by his statement on hunting down 'Sanantan Dharma', Tamil Nadu Chief minister MK Stalin took the credit of the development and ironically said the Dravidian model government made it possible at a time when women are deemed impure and are not even allowed in the temples of female deities.

Here's what Hindu Dharma actually reflects about women priests;

According to the research article titled 'Concept of women priesthood in Hindu religion', published in the International Journal of Sanskrit Research by Dr. Aaryaa Ashutosh Joshi, she writes: "In Hindu tradition various samskaras (sacraments) are performed from pre-birth and upto post death and they have origin from vedic period and in order to guide common people in the activities of samskaras (how to perform these sacraments). Purohit’s (Priest’s) presence is required. In Hindu tradition from the period of Vedas, both male and female purohits have taken this responsibility"

She further mentions, "It is seen that in other religions and traditions only males have been allotted this right. But in Hindu Tradition both the men and women have this right of priesthood craft. Vedic literature is the concreate base of Hindu Tradition. Twenty seven hymns of Rigveda composed by females named as hrishikas and this is very important pointed to be noted."

Here's what Stalin posted on 'X', formerly known as twitter, about the development;

“"Despite women's achievements as pilots and astronauts, they were barred from the sacred role of temple priests, deemed impure, even in the temples for female deities. But change is finally here! In Tamil Nadu, as our #DravidianModel Government has removed the thorn from Thanthai Periyar's heart by appointing people of all castes as priests, women are also now stepping into the sanctums, bringing a new era of inclusivity and equality" ”

While Udhaynidhi Stalin is busy passing derogatory comments about Sanatan Dharma, he is joined by his father to spread misinformation about the role of women in a Hindu society and Hindu dharma.
