In a worrisome incident, a complaint has been lodged by Delhi based legal activism group Kalinga Rights forum with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), an apex body of the Government of India that works on the protection of children & upholding their rights against DAV School Puri’s Teacher & principal after one teacher of the school sent message in school WhatsApp group ordering Hindu minor kids to come to school wearing Muslim costumes like Hijab & Burkha on the eve of celebrating Muharram in school.

“DAV School never celebrated Hindu festivals like Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja in its premises & as Protest by Bajrang dal intensified, it released an Apology, Citing "Concerned class teachers sent a message at 5:47 am informing parents not to do the same"
“But when school started, it is observed that many hindu minor children came to school with Hijab & other islamic costumes Videos in possession with @BajrangDalOrg show minor Hindu kids wearing skull caps inside class & when objected teachers asked them to keep them inside bag”
“Such Actions by @aryasamaj run DAV School is directly against Jagannath Culture & a malicious conspiracy to Islamise Hindu kids & thus we request @KanoongoPriyank ji to order strict actions under JJ ACT 2015 & RTE Act 2009 including IPC 295A,153A,505(2) & other IPC sections”.
When Newsbharati contacted Kalinga Rights Forum Team regarding the complaint, the KRF team cited in its complaint that “This is a complete dramatics by DAV Public school Puri Odisha to save face because had it been the case then it would have asked the minor children not to come into the class by wearing the Islamic dress of Hijab & burkha as well as skull caps from the entry gate itself.
Thus looking at the support being shown by class teachers in the videos it can also be inferred that Hindu kids were being attempted to get converted in the name of celebrating Moharram.
Thus, we requested hon'ble NCPCR to immediately take cognizance of the above matter & order immediate registration of FIR & take strong actions as per Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act 2015, RTE Act as well as Sections & sub sections of the IPC 295A,153A, 505(2) as well as Section 3 & Section 4 of Odisha's anti conversion law "Odisha Freedom of Religion Act 1989".
DAV School Apologises after Protests by Bajrang dal intensified
As per local media reports & an apology letter accessed by Newsbharati, the Bajrang Dal Puri unit along with Aditya Vahini had protested against this dictate by DAV Public School Puri forcing the school to apologise.
