The Indian Army has awarded Ashok Leyland contracts worth Rs 800 crore, including the purchase of specialty vehicles FAT 44 and GTV 66 for towing small and medium weapons. The automobiles will be delivered over the following 12 months.
According to Amandeep Singh, Ashok Leyland's President for Defence Business, the mobility platforms spanning from 44, 666, 868, 1010, and 1212 are indigenously developed and built by Ashok Leyland, which has contributed considerably to import substitution.
Mumbai, Ashok Leyland, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced on Monday that it had received orders from the Indian Army for Rs 800 crore. Contracts were also issued for the acquisition of the Field Artillery Tractor (FAT 44) and the Gun Towing Vehicle (GTV 66) said Ashok Leyland in a statement.

The vehicles will be supplied over the following 12 months to suit the Indian Army's needs, according to the business.
According to the firm, the FAT 44 and GTV 6 are specialized trucks used by the artillery for hauling light and medium weapons, respectively.
