Mohammed Raees arrested by UP Anti-Terror Squad for spying for Pakistan ISI

A man who was purportedly employed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been detained by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). According to UP ATS, the individual, identified as Mohammed Raees, was allegedly providing his Pakistani handlers with crucial intelligence regarding Indian military installations.

Raees, a local of the Gonda district, met Armaan while the latter was employed in Mumbai. According to Raees, Armaan sought to provoke him by suggesting that Muslims in India were being oppressed.

Raees went on to say that when he told Armaan he wished to work in Saudi Arabia, Armaan allegedly promised to send Raees' number to a Pakistani. Raees was convinced to spy on India in exchange for a sizable sum of money.
According to the ATS, Raees received a call from a man last year who identified himself as Hussain and claimed to be a Pakistani agent.

ATS said that Raees disclosed that five years ago he went to work in Mumbai initially working as a delivery boy for a food delivery company.

Raees was asked to provide information regarding military cantonments and establishments. Raees recruited his friend and numerous others into espionage.

Raees was summoned to Lucknow for questioning by UP ATS after they discovered his behavior to be suspicious through surveillance and a tip-off.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) detained Raees, a native of Gonda. He was called to the ATS headquarters in this city, and while being questioned, he admitted to being a spy, according to Prashant Kumar, Special DG (Law and Order).

At the ATS police station in Lucknow, Raees has been the subject of a FIR.

An FIR was filed against Raees at the Lucknow ATS police station under IPC sections 121 A (waging or attempting to wage war) and 123 (concealing with purpose to aid design to wage war), as well as the Officials Secrets Act of 1923.
