India is steadily moving ahead in its comprehensive integrated missile development program (IMDP) with the successful pre-induction testing of New Generation Agni Prime Ballistic Missile.
 
New Generation Agni Prime Ballistic Missile 

Here are six major missile series developed by DRDO in collaboration with the Defence Ministry-

1. Agni Series: These are long-range ballistic missiles developed to deliver nuclear warheads. It was developed and operationalised by a team led by former Indian President, Missile-Man Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The Agni series includes Agni-I (700 km), Agni-II(2,000 Km), Agni-III (3,000 km), Agni-IV (4,000Km), Agni-V (5,000 Km) Agni Prime New Generation Ballistic Missile (2,000 Km) 
 
2. Prithvi series: The Prithvi missiles are tactical surface-to-surface ballistic missiles with various ranges. Prithvi-I (150 km range), Prithvi-II (250 km),Prithvi-III (350 km), and Prithvi-IV (600 km). These missiles are capable of carrying both conventional/nuclear warheads.

3. BrahMos: BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile jointly developed by India and Russia. Being one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world, it has a range of around 290 km and can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms. Armed Forces have conducted several successful tests of BrahMos missiles.

4. Nirbhay: Nirbhay is a long range, all-weather, subsonic Cruise Missile designed and developed in India by the Aeronautical Development Establishment which is under DRDO. It designed to be launched from various platforms, including land, sea, and air. It has a range of approximately 1,000 km and is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.

5. Akash: Akash is a medium-range mobile surface-to-air missile system developed by the DRDO and produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited. It is designed to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft and missiles within effective range 25 to 30 Km. It can engage multiple targets simultaneously.

6. Nag: It is an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed to strike and neutralise highly-fortified enemy tanks. It also has night strike capabilities. It is a third-generation fire-and-forget missile with a range of 4-7 km.
