Bhadrak, June 9: When the memory of Black Friday’s horrific triple train crash at Bahanaga in Balasore district of Odisha is still fresh in people’s minds, another major train accident in Bhadrak district’s Manjuri Road Track.
Because of a railway official’s presence of mind and quickness, the near possible train mishap was avoided at Manjuri Road station under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Bhadrak district yesterday.
According to a source, there was a boulder stuck in the middle of the interlock at Manjuri Road station. It was enough to derail a train.
However, a railway staffer could see it and alerted the concerned officials. In no time, the boulder was removed.
In this regard, the station manager has lodged a complaint with the RPF. When contacted, RPF inspector Dillip Kumar informed their investigation is underway.
According to the station master of Manjuri Road Railway station Bhimasen Rout, this incident happened on Monday at about 5:30pm in the evening a railway official located the rock in Electronic Interlocking 22A & a goods train was about to enter the railway track just a few minutes before the rock was found.
The said rock is said to have been intentionally planted to derail the train as per various sources.
Consequently, the photograph of the rock in the interlocking system was made viral in social media.
Currently, Probe is underway as to who posted the photograph on social media & efforts are being made to collect information about the social media user who posted it.
It is pertinent to mention here the triple train mishap that occurred on June 2 evening claimed 288 lives and injured over 1000 people and people are still struggling with the post-mishap difficulties like identifying the bodies of their near and dear ones.
