New Delhi, Jun 20: The Directorate of Vigilance on Monday issued show-cause notices to seven PWD officials over rule violations in the renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. The action was taken based on the chief secretary's report.
The notices were issued to the chief engineers and other Public Works Department officials involved in the renovation. They have 15 days to submit a response.
The notices said as per the requirements of the chief minister, changes were made in the drawings of the interiors, which resulted in deviation in the total work done and the sanctioned amount for the renovation. The old structure was demolished without a survey report, and no building plan was sanctioned for the new building constructed by the PWD, it said. The notices were issued by special secretary YVVJ Rajshekhar. Interestingly, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government had taken action against Rajshekhar immediately after a Supreme Court order bestowed control of civil servants in Delhi to the elected government.
Responding to the notices, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said this will go a long way in bringing out the truth.
"The day is not far from when Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will himself face an inquiry," he said.
