RSS Ghosh Pathak to perform on 350th Coronation anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj

Nagpur, June 02: Probably for the first time, ‘Ghosh Pathak’ (Band) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh would perform on the 350th anniversary of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. A total of 30 Dhol-Tasha groups would salute Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Shivteerth, Mahal, Nagpur.

The celebrations would start at 7.45 pm on June 2, when a procession will be taken out from New English High School, Mahal. The procession will pass through Gandhi Sagar and Tilak Statue to arrive at Shivaji Maharaj’s statue near Gandhi Gate, Mahal. New tunes including the popular Marathi song ‘Shoor Amhi Sardar…’ and Aarati of Shivaji Maharaj ‘Jai Jai Shivrai…’ penned by Swatantryaveer Savarkar, will be played by the band.
 
The band will have selected 60 participants. RSS office bearers have appealed to the people to attend the ceremony at 7.30 pm near Shivaji Maharaj’s statue.
 
Earlier a palanquin procession will be taken out at 6 am with the participation of Dhol-Tasha groups, horses etc. Demonstrations by old games will also be presented on the occasion. This will be followed by Abhishek of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the statue at 7.30 am, arati and a joint presentation by 30- Dhol-Tasha groups.
 
A musical programme based on Shivaji Maharaj’s life will be presented by 350 artists at 6 pm on June 2. This will be followed by a firecrackers show.
 
On June 3 and 4 a light and sound show will be presented at 7 pm, informs Convenor Datta Shirke.
