Hyderabad, April 07: Telangana BJP chief and MP Bandi Sanjay, who was granted bail in the SSC question paper leak case on Thursday, walked out of the Karimnagar district jail on Friday. Sanjay was spotted offering prayers at a local temple soon after his release.
The court let him out on the condition of Rs 20,000 surety from a magistrate's court in Warangal. The court also set the condition that Bandi Sanjay Kumar should not leave the country, cooperate with the investigation and should't threaten the witnesses.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar, a Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency, was picked up by a team of police past midnight on Tuesday from his residence in Karimnagar city and was initially put under preventive arrest.
Later, he was named as the prime accused and arrested by the city police over the leak of secondary school exam papers.
According to the police, Bandi Sanjay Kumar conspired with other accused with the intention of creating rumours and provoking a breach of peace of the ongoing SSC public examination, after images of two question papers surfaced on social media, to defame the government.
Several top brass BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national chief JP Nadda, and Union Minister Smriti Irani, contacted the Telangana BJP chief after he was released from jail. The party's national leaders, including Tarun Chugh and Sunil Bansal, also spoke to him.
