New Delhi, April 6: Indian football team has huge development in the world rankings as they have become World No. 101 in the FIFA World Rankings.
Post their triumph in the Tri-Nation series, India now have moved up five places in the global ranking. Sunil Chhetri’s team was ranked 106 in 2022 and now they are at 101 in the FIFA World Rankings.
Blue Tigers beat Myanmar (1-0) and Kyrgyz Republic (2-0) to triumph in the recently held three-nation friendly tournament in Imphal. Igor Stimac managed India are 19th-best ranked team from the Asian confederation with Japan (20th in the world) the highest ranked.
Apart from this, Lionel Messi’s Argentina now have reclaimed the No.1 spot in the FIFA World Rankings after 6 years. This came after their friendly wins against Panama (2-0) and Curaçao (7-0). This means they have now dethroned Brazil from the top spot in the ranking. Argentina were ranked No.1 last in March, 2017.
Brazil, who lost against Morocco (2-1) in the recently concluded friendlies, dropped two spots from the top.
