Describing the security situation in Sudan as complex and evolving, the government said it is pursuing multiple options to evacuate around 3,000 Indian citizens stuck in the conflict-hit country. This came after the Ministry of External Affairs announced the plan to evacuate citizens from Sudan.

1.India has positioned two military aircraft on standby in Jeddah and that a naval ship has reached Port Sudan. Two C-130J aircraft of the Indian Air Force are on standby in Jeddah and INS Sumedha has also reached Port Sudan.

The Indian Embassy is in regular touch with the stranded Indians in Sudan and is advising them on the viability of safe movement and the need to avoid unnecessary risk. It is also coordinating all possible assistance including possible exit from Khartoum city as and when the security situation permits safe movement
 
 
3.Govt is coordinating closely with various partners for the safe movement of Indians stranded in the war-hit country. It is also in contact with the UN, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and the US among others.
 
 
4.Three Indians were evacuated by Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The govt is looking at different options in order to evacuate Indians from Sudan. In view of the situation prevailing there, overland movement currently involves a lot of risks. Given the ongoing fierce fighting, any movement via ground would depend on the emerging situation.
 
Last year, India evacuated more than 11,000 citizens from Ukraine, with several senior ministers personally joining the evacuation drive triggered by the Russian invasion.
