Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Harry Brook slammed a terrific unbeaten 100 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2023. His blistering unbeaten knock of 100 came in just 55 balls. From the very first ball, he made his intentions clear and went on to unleash carnage in Eden Gardens.

Before the century, Brook faced the wrath of social media fans especially from India for his three consecutive failures. The pressure preceding the hundred was enormous on the English batter because of 13.25 crore price tag.

However, the youngster shut the critics up with his century. In the post-match presentation, he said, "There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up".

Brook’s statement did not go down well with Indians fans, who felt the Englishman played one stellar knock and is getting carried away. While some netzines appreciated the SRH opener for giving such a courageous statement, others felt it was unnecessary and that Brook might face such trolls for failing to produce substantial knocks in the remaining IPL matches.

While his one statement relating to shutting fans up might have hurt Indians, Brook immediately made for the other, by passing a hilarious family-related statement. During the century, Brook’s girlfriend was seen cheering from the stands, but the rest of the family members had left for England. “My girlfriend is here, but the rest of the family just left. I knew this would happen, as soon as they leave, I’ll get some runs [laughs]. I’m sure they’ll all be very happy for me,” Brook said amusingly.
Brief score: Kolkata Knight Riders 205/7 (Nitish Rana 75(41), Rinku Singh 58(31)* and Mayank Markande 2/27) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Hyderabad 228/4 (Harry Brook 100*, Aiden Markram 50; Andre Russell 3-22) vs Kolkata Knight Riders.
