Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurates "CARe" case study book at SPARC-Rashtriya Sewa Bharati organized conference

New Delhi, April 12: Socialwork Practices and Research Centre (SPARC) and Rashtriya Sewa Bharati held a national conference on "Disaster Resilient Methodologies for Pandemic" on Wednesday here at the Convention Centre of JNU.

Union Minister of State Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the case study book of the Covid Assistance Research documentation (CARe) project at this conference.

CARe is an inclusive project of the pandemic response through the Government-Voluntary Partnership model in the form of case studies, documentation of relief work of voluntary institutions of Western Maharashtra, and inspiring stories depicting a strong and harmonious society during the crisis.

Dr. Jitendra Singh shared his valuable insights on the integrated and effective responses of the Government of India during the pandemic. He highlighted that the management of COVID-19 pandemic in India was more efficient and successful than the European countries. He told that when the country faced the adversity of the pandemic, we were able to turn that into a virtue. He also said that India has set a good example of preventive healthcare role model before the rest of the world.

Further, he said that the pandemic had developed a curiosity among the students to pursue biotechnology as a field for research and development. He later advised the young participants should focus on contributing towards nation building.

During this Prof. Anil Gupta, NIDM, Mr. Pannalal Bhansali, President, Rashtriya Sewa Bharati and Mr. Mahesh Pohnerkar from SPARC were present on the dais.

Tukaram Naik from RSS Jankalyan Samiti elaborated on the effective response of the officials and volunteers of RSS Jankalyan Samiti during the disasters. He further explained that the the RSS Swayamsevaks are on forefront of selfless service before everyone.

Prof. Santishree Pandit, Vice chancellor of JNU, concisely explained the achievements of the JNU and emphasized that the university has always worked towards building a stronger nation. She stressed on the importance and need for rendering selfless service to the country. She explained how the social service in the western countries is linked with an agenda. She urged the participants to rely on the factual data and that the interpretations should be based on the facts. She also appreciated and praised the efforts of the magnanimous efforts and interventions of RSS Jankalyan Samiti during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further, Dr. Pallavi Jain guided the participants through her subject expertise. She briefly explained about Krsnaa Diagnostics and their major contribution during the pandemic.

At this conference, Veena Bandyopadhyay, UNICEF, and Dr. Sanjay Rai, AIIMS New Delhi, Mr. Manoj Pochat, Pune platform for Collaborative Response were the speakers of these sessions. The conference was concluded by Mr. Vijayrao Puranik of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati. All this was possible due to the efforts of Special Centre for Disaster Research, JNU and Dr. Deep Narayan Pandey, Assistant Professor, SCRD, JNU.
