Ajay Devgn's Bholaa is out in the theatres and people are loving this action-packed brutal avatar of Ajay Devgn. And, Bholaa is the official remake of the 2019 Tamil film Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Well, in 2022, all the remakes failed to make a mark at the box office but Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 2 had excelled, creating records. Now, this year, already two remakes, Shehzada and Selfiee, failed to make a mark at the box office.
However, audience are also saying that is 10x better than Kaithi! But before Bholaa, interestingly, there are almost more than 9 movies Ajay Devgn has been part of films that were remakes of south Indian movies.
1. Yuva (2004)
The multi-starrer political thriller was the reboot of the popular Tamil movie '
Aaytha Ezhuthu'. It showcased the stories of three young men Michael (Ajay Devgan), Arjun (Vivek Oberoi), Lallan (Abhishek Bachchan) from completely different strata of society and how one fateful incident on Kolkata's Howrah Bridge changed their lives forever. The film had garnered a business of Rs.14.24 crore at the box office.
In the original movie, Surya, R Madhavan and Siddharth were part of the movie.
2. Singham (2011)
One of the biggest blockbuster of Ajay Devgn was Singham. Released in 2011, the movie was the remake Tamil blockbuster Singam. It was also the first film of Shetty's cop universe.
Ajay Devgn played an honest cop in the film who aims to eliminate corruption from the society. It is said that Bajirao Singham is one of the best characters of Ajay's career. The original film starred Suriya and Anushka Shetty in a lead role.
3. Drishyam franchise (2015)
Drishyam and Drishyam 2 starring Ajay Devgn were remake of Malayalam movies of the same name. Like the original one, Ajay's film was also critically acclaimed. Cinephiles were all praise for Ajay Devgn and Tabu's act in the film. The film showed how a common man becomes a murder suspect when the son of a high-ranking police officer who had harassed his daughter goes missing.
Both the movies had done very well at the box office. The original film starred Mohanlal and Shriya Saran in a lead role.
4. Golmaal (2006)
Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited' was a remake of super hit Malayalam film 'Kakkakuyil'. The film featured Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor in lead roles. The story revolved around four runaway crooks who take shelter in a bungalow which is owned by a blind couple. The comedy film is still loved by the audience!
5. Son of Sardaar (2012)
Son Of Sardar starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonakshi Sinha was a hit at the box office, a remake of the Telugu film Maryada Ramanna directed by SS Rajamouli's hit Telugu film 'Maryada Ramanna'. This movies was remade in four languages one of which was Hindi.
The story revolved around the two warring Sardar families and Ajay Devgn who plays Rajveer an innocent Sikh, torn between a family dispute. His fortune leads to a comedy of errors which makes this film a laugh riot.
