From Arun Govil to Ashish Sharma: 5 actors who became popular for playing Bhagwan Rama

Ramayana has been made several times and every time the actors who played the lead role became very popular. On the occassion of Rama Navami, let us take a look about a list of actors who became popular for portraying the role of Bhagwan Rama.
1. Arun Govil
Ramanand Sagar was the first to don the role of Bhagwan Rama to thw world. And it still vividly remembered by audience. It was in 1987, when Ramanand Sagar made a serial on Ramayana in which Arun Govil played the role of Bhagwan Rama. Post the serial, Arun Govil became so famous that people started to worship him and even started to call him Bhagwan Rama.
His thoughts on Bhagwan Rama-
"There were a lot of people who looked at me as I am Lord Rama and I could see them get goose bumps on their body. They used to start crying and say 'Oh Bhagwaan'. People used to touch my feet and run away saying that we have finally met God. Everyone in the show was dedicated to the show and we were not thinking it's just a character in the show. We were literally a part of it from our hearts and this emotion wasn't there in the rest of the versions."
2. Nitish Bhardwaj
Though Nitish Bhardwaj is popularly known for playing the role of Bhagwan Krishna in Mahabharata, he has done full justice in playing Bhagwan Rama in the year 2002 when Ramayana was recreated.
3. Gurmeet Choudhary
In 2008, the actor played the role of Bhagwan Rama in the show which was aired on NDTV Imagine. He was highly appreciated for his role and his wife Debina Bonnerjee played the role of Sita.
His thoughts on Bhagwan Rama-
“Ramayan became a hit over night. The show made us so popular, that people actually felt that we are Ram and Sita. They used to touch our feet and at that time, we were really young- around, 21-22. Playing Lord Ram is a once in a lifetime opportunity and, thankfully, people were convinced with my interpretation of the divine character all those years ago. The character got me a lot of respect and has also taught me humility. Today, whatever I’ve achieved is because of this character. I believe Ram chose me in 2008 to express himself. Ram is a hero and it was a big challenge for me back then.”
4. Gagan Malik
In the year 2015, the character of Bhagwan Rama was also featured in the serial Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan which aired on Sony TV in which actor Gagan Malik portrayed the role of Bhagwan Rama.
His thoughts on Bhagwan Rama-
“Bhagwan Rama was the man who always supported the truth. It is written that, "Sach ka saath do, satya kaho aur satya ke saath chalo, antim vijay hamesha satya ki hi hoti hai". After I have got selected to play this role, I am not having non veg. cuisines. It is not that I have taken a pledge against it but I just happen to follow it. I have stopped shouting at other people or at my spot boys. I have become a very calm person.”
5. Ashish Sharma
With several Ramayana serials been made a lot of times, yet another serial come which also became popular. In 2016, the show was recreated from Sita’s perspective, and in it Ashish Mehra played the role of Bhagwan Rama.
