Oscar = Racism, Proved! "The Elephant Whisperers" Guneet Monga not gets chance to speak after Oscars win but British winners do!

India won two awards at the 95th Academy Awards with Indian documentary on human's relationship with nature, The Elephant Whisperers, earning the Oscars for Best Documentary Short Film while RRR's sensational song, Naatu Naatu won in the Best Original Song category.

 

 

The Elephant Whisperers, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, created history as the first Indian film to win an Oscar in this category and the third to be nominated after The House That Ananda Built-in 1969 and An Encounter With Faces which competed for Best Documentary Short in 1979 respectively.

 

Soon after the announcement director Kartiki Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga took the stage to accept the award, and Kartiki delivered an emotional speech thanking the Academy for accepting their film. But Guneet Monga couldn't!

 

Guneet Monga was denied the chance to speak after the win. It might have been okay had it been a common practice to let only one of the recipients speak but unfortunately, it wasn't. This comes after The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse won the award for Best Animated film, and the filmmakers, two British men, came on the stage. The difference? This time both Charlie Mackesy and Peter Baynton got the chance to speak.

 

It is isn't about Charlie doesn't deserve to speak, the same should have been followed for Guneet Monga!

 

One can see Guneet getting all ready with her cell phone, excited for the speech but as soon as Kartiki finishes her speech, the music, which clearly a sign to them to leave, starts playing and both the ladies had to leave the stage.

 

 

If this isn't racism, then what is?
