In an indeed hilarious moment, the City of Newark in New Jersey has admitted that it got scammed by the delegates of the fictional country of the United States of Kailasa (USK), founded by Indian fugitive Nithyananda.
As per the information, the Newark Mayor Democrat Has Baraka signed an agreement to become the sister city of the Hindu nation Kailasa. The agreement to twin with Kailasa had lasted but six days, Newark officials said, before being dissolved as “baseless and void”.
The signing ceremony for the sister-city agreement between Newark and the 'United States of Kailasa' took place at the City Hall in Newark on January 12 this year.
A delegation of this so-called country visited Newark earlier this year at the invitation of Mayor Ras Baraka for a cultural trade agreement. The deal was annulled by City Council a few days after the papers were signed. The City Hall said in a statement, “Although this was a regrettable incident, the city of Newark remains committed to partnering with people from diverse cultures in order to enrich each other with connectivity, support, and mutual respect.”
This development just comes days after a delegate of self-styled Indian fugitive godman Swami Nithyananda’s so-called country United States of Kailasa (USK) attended the summit of the United Nations.
What was the UN’s stand?
However, the United Nations said it would ignore statements made by the representatives of Nithyananda at two UN committee meetings in Geneva in February.
Who is Nithyananda-the founder of USK
Swami Nithyananda is wanted on several accusations of rape and sexual assault. In 2019 when he was out on bail, he fled from India and purchased an island off the coast of Ecuador and named it 'Kailasa' after Mount Kailash in Tibet, a sacred site for Hindus. However, the Ecuadorian administration has confirmed that no such nation exists
Where is this Khalsa nation?
A search for “Kailasa” on Google Maps reveals some Hindu temples in the southern half of India and a link to a website promoting the nation as an “ancient enlightened civilization, the great cosmic borderless Hindu nation” and a reference to Nithyananda as “the Reviver”.
As per him, USK also claims to serve as a nation for its population of “two billion Hindus.” It should be noted that the country has its own flag, passport, central bank system, and even a constitution. As per the information, the country has also launched its citizenship application.
Dose the UN recognised USK as the nation
Nithyananda sent representatives of 'Kailasa' to the UN in an attempt to gain recognition and acceptance on an international level. However, 'Kailasa' is not recognized as a country by the United Nations or the international community. The UN dismissed the submissions made by Vijayapriya Nithyananda, calling them irrelevant and stating that they would not be considered in the final outcome drafts.
