New Delhi, Feb 08: The confession of the accused in the Delhi Shraddha Walkar murder case, Aftab Poonawala, has now come to the fore. Aftab's confession in the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police has made many shocking revelations.
According to the police, Aftab Poonawalla divulged how he disposed of the pieces of Shraddha's body. He also said that he burnt the pieces of the corpse with petrol and after grinding several bones in a grinder, threw the powder on the road. Aftab also revealed how he disposed of Shraddha's head.
Aftab's confession further detailed that he and Shraddha had planned the Uttarakhand trip to improve their relationship. "We left Mumbai for the trip on March 28-29, 2022, and reached Haridwar. From there we went to Parvati Valley, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Mussoorie, and Manali. From there we went to Chandigarh, where we met a man named Badri whom we had befriended through the Bumble app. He asked us to visit his home in Delhi." On May 5, 2022, the couple visited Badri's house in the Chhattarpur area in Delhi. They stayed at his house for about 8-10 days and even there, Shraddha and Aftab continued their fights. "Due to frequent quarrels, Badri asked us to leave his house... On May 16, 2022, we rented a house in Chhattarpur through a broker named Rahul Roy and started living together," he told the police. At that time, neither of the two had a job and most of their savings were blown on the trip. However, their quarrels over small things continued. "On May 18, 2022, Shraddha asked me to get groceries, but I refused as I was unwell. Due to this, she got angry and said they had only two bags and there was nothing to eat." "I also asked her to give half the expenses. At this, she became furious and started abusing me. I was fed up with this and wanted to get end the quarrels forever. So, I decided to get her out of the way," he said. Then on May 18, he pushed her to the floor and sat on her chest, before strangling her. Aftab hid the body in the bathroom. And planned to dispose it of by cutting it into pieces and throwing them somewhere. He bought a hammer, a saw, and three blades from a hardware shop in Chhatarpur for the purpose. "On May 19, 2022, I bought a trash bag, a knife, and a chopper from a shop near Mandir Wali Road in Chhattarpur. I tried to stow the knife in my bag and cut myself over the tattoo on my right hand. I got five stitches from the neighborhood doctor," he said.
Aftab bought a fridge for Rs 25,000. The shopkeeper sent the refrigerator to his address the same day in the evening. He packed some of the body parts in a trash bag and kept the others in the freezer. To clean up the blood, he bought toilet cleaner, bleach, handwash, and other items from a shopping app. Aftab said: "I burnt the pieces of the body with petrol. After grinding several bones in the grinder, I scattered the powder on a 100-foot road nearby. I discarded some parts of the body in a dustbin in Chhattarpur while I dumped the rest in a forest near the crematorium in Chhattarpur, the forest behind Rain Basera Uttarpur Enclave, along MG Road, leading to Gurugram, and the forest near Chhattarpur Hill." "I incinerated many of the parts using petrol. About three to four months later, I dumped her head in the forest near Chhattarpur Enclave," he revealed.
