Chennai, February 13: Noted Tamil nationalist leader Pazha Nedumaran on Monday claimed that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) leader Velupillai Prabakaran was alive and would appear in public soon. Prabhakaran was reported to have been killed by Sri Lankan forces in 2009.
"The international (political) situation and with rise of Lankan people to topple Rajapakse regime has created the appropriate situation for our leader to emerge", Pazha Nedumaran said while making the claim.
Asserting that the LTTE leader was doing well, Nedumaran said the announcement would end "planned" suspicions spread about him.
"I’m happy to announce to the entire Tamil population across the world that Prabhakaran is doing very well. This will bring an end the to the planned and spread rumors against him," Nedumaran added.
Pazha Nedumaran also stated that he would soon announce plans to free Thamizhizham people. Till the time LTTE was powerful, they did not allow any forces inimical to India to find a toehold in the regions held by them in Sri Lanka, he said.
"China is attempting to create animosity against India and that Bejing has taken control of Indian Ocean and urged Indian government to stop this," the Tamil nationalist leader said.
Nedumaran said Prabhakaran was all set to soon announce a plan for the dawn of the Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka. He appealed to Tamils in Sri Lanka and other parts of the world to stand together and extend their full support to Prabhakaran.
As per previous reports, Prabhakaran was killed in 2009 in the war between Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE. 'Eelam' in Tamil denotes the homeland of the Tamil people.
