Indian Army, is currently in the process of procuring 10,000 Hand Held Thermal Imager-Uncooled (HHTI-UC) devices. This information was made public through a Request for Information (RFI) that was uploaded on the official website of the Army.
The HHTI-UC is a highly advanced surveillance device that will provide soldiers with the ability to conduct surveillance up to a distance of 3,000 meters in both day and night conditions. It will come equipped with a high-resolution optical viewer, as well as digital and thermal sensors that are uncooled. Additionally, it will also have a laser range finder for accurately determining distances.
One of the most impressive features of the device is its inbuilt satellite navigation system, which will provide soldiers with their own location data. This system includes NAVIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation), ensuring that the soldiers have access to accurate and reliable location information.
In terms of storage, the HHTI-UC will be able to record and save up to three hours of video on removable SD storage devices. This will be incredibly useful for soldiers who need to review footage for training or evidence purposes.
The RFI specifies that the HHTI-UC should have a weight of less than 3 kg and have seamless wired or wireless connectivity of up to 50 meters. The Army has planned to acquire the devices in a phased manner, with the first deliveries expected within six months of advance payments.
Vendors are required to submit their proposals by December 26, 2023.
The acquisition of the HHTI-UC will significantly enhance the Indian Army’s capabilities for surveillance and target acquisition.
