On anti-India terrorists being killed in Pakistan, MEA says 'no comment'

New Delhi, Dec 8: As several India's most wanted terrorists are being killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan, the foreign ministry on Thursday refrained from commenting on the issue and said the government would like such individuals to come to India and face the legal system.

 

 

When asked about the official position on the consistent killing of anti-India terrorists by the rival gang in Pakistan and some other countries, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, said, "Those who are wanted in India to face justice for criminal and terrorist activities, we would like them to come to India and face our legal system, but I cannot comment on the developments that are taking place in Pakistan."

Notably, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Hanzla Adnan, who masterminded the attack on a BSF (Border Security Force) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur in 2015, was recently killed by unknown gunmen in Pakistan's Karachi. He was shot outside his house on the intervening nights of December 2 and 3.

 

 

Starting in May, several wanted terrorists have been killed in various Pakistani cities. They were all involved in terror attacks against Indian security forces and other assets. Those killed included Maulana Ziaur Rehman, Mufti Qaiser Farooq and Shahid Latif.

 

The MEA spokesperson also spoke about the appeal filed against a death sentence given to eight Indians in Qatar, saying that India was closely monitoring the matter and extending all legal and consular assistance. He added, "Meanwhile, our ambassador got consular access to meet all 8 of them in prison on December 3. This is a sensitive issue, but we will continue to follow and whatever we can share, we will do so."
