In a significant development for India's anti-submarine warfare abilities, the Cochin Shipyard launched the first three of eight ASW shallow water crafts on Thursday, November 30.
These ships, soon to be known as INS Mahe, INS Malvan, and INS Mangrol upon entering the Navy, were unveiled in the presence of esteemed naval personnel and their partners. This launch represents a significant step forward in the Indian Navy's continuous efforts to upgrade its fleet and strengthen its ASW capabilities.
These shallow water crafts have been meticulously designed to excel in ASW missions in areas close to the coast or in shallow waters, where submarines pose a considerable risk.
The addition of these ASW shallow water vessels will greatly strengthen India's naval defense capabilities, particularly in the coastal and shallow water areas where submarines pose a considerable risk to maritime safety.
These ships will play a critical role in defending India's maritime interests and securing its coastlines. The introduction of these ships serves as a clear demonstration of India's dedication to building a robust and advanced navy equipped to confront the ever-changing threats in the maritime realm.
