Kolkata, Nov 6: India thrashed South Africa by 243 runs in an ODI World Cup 2023 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday to keep its winning streak in the tournament intact. Birthday boy Virat Kohli gave his fans a present by smashing a century in the match against South Africa on Sunday night at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Kohli went past the 500-run mark in a single World Cup edition for the first time
Kohli notched up his record-equalling 49th ton in his 277th ODI innings. Sachin took 452 innings to register 49 ODI hundreds.
Kohli became the third Indian batter after Vinod Kambli (100*) and Sachin (134) to score a century on his birthday.
Kohli (119) now has the second most 50-plus scores in ODI history. The batter surpassed Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara (118) in the match against South Africa. Only Sachin (145) now has more 50-plus scores than Kohli in ODIs.
