DGCA Director Suspended over Corruption Allegations

A significant development has occurred as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) takes a firm stance against corruption by suspending its director, Capt. Anil Gill.

 

 

 

This decision, supported by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, highlights the DGCA's zero tolerance policy towards malpractices. Minister Scindia has assured that strict action will be taken in accordance with the law against any instances of malpractice.

The suspension follows Gill's recent transfer from the flight training department to Aerosports within the organization. This is not the first time Gill has faced corruption charges during his eight years of service with the DGCA, as this marks the third allegation against him.

 

The alleged actions of Gill have raised serious concerns and sparked investigatory efforts. It is believed that as someone in a position of power, Gill exploited his authority by soliciting kickbacks from pilots and flying training organizations (FTOs).

 

In exchange for these illegal perks, he allegedly turned a blind eye to rule violations committed by these organizations. Disturbingly, FTOs who could not comply with his demands were reportedly forced into a precarious situation, being forced to sell their aircraft at below-market prices to companies connected to Gill. These companies would then lease the planes back to the FTOs at exorbitant rates.

 

Furthermore, a separate complaint has been lodged against Gill, alleging that he misused an FTO to obtain training for himself in the Czech Republic – a clear abuse of his position.

 

The gravity of these allegations has resulted in a comprehensive investigation being launched into Gill's behavior. The complaints, though submitted anonymously, have shed light on the disturbing and potentially unethical actions of someone entrusted.

 

 

Gill has been facing strict protocols while serving his suspension in Delhi, requiring prior authorization for any travel outside the city limits.
