The Eutelsat Group includes the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite operator Eutelsat OneWeb. IN-SPACe is the government of India's organization in charge of regulating space operations and providing permission to perform them in the country.

"We are delighted that the Indian space regulator has approved the launch of Eutelsat OneWeb's commercial satellite broadband services in India."

This will be a significant step forward in meeting India's objective of delivering internet connection for everybody and will allow the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of Digital India," said Sunil Bharti Mittal, Bharti Group Chairman and Vice-President (Co-Chair) of the Eutelsat Group Board of Directors.

The permission permits OneWeb India to use the S-band and Ka-band spectrum for its commercial satellite broadband services in India. The startup intends to begin offering its services in 2023.

Eutelsat OneWeb is constructing a constellation of 650 low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet connection to individuals in underserved and rural locations throughout the world.

The services of the firm are projected to be especially advantageous to India, which has a huge rural population and an increasing need for internet connection.

The IN-SPACe approval is a significant step forward for Eutelsat OneWeb and India's attempts to reduce the digital divide. The services provided by the corporation are projected to have a substantial influence on India's economy and society.
