President Droupadi Murmu appoints new governors of Odisha, Tripura

Raghubar Das has been named Governor of Odisha, while Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has been appointed Governor of Tripura by President Droupadi Murmu.

 

According to an official statement made by the President's Secretariat on Wednesday, "the President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu as Governor of Tripura and Shri Raghubar Das as Governor of Odisha."

"The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices," the statement went on to say.

Raghubar Das has been appointed as Odisha's 26th governor.

Das is a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister from Jharkhand.

He has also served twice as President of the Jharkhand BJP.

Ganeshi Lal is the 25th Governor of Odisha at the moment.

In 2018, he was sworn in as the governor of Odisha.

Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is the BJP's national secretary and has served as an MLA in Andhra Pradesh three times.

Satyadev Narayan Arya is currently the 19th governor of Tripura.

He is a Bihar-based BJP politician who previously served as Governor of Haryana.
