RSS welcomes Supreme Court’s decision to not legalise Same Sex Marriages

New Delhi, Oct 17: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) on Tuesday (Oct 17) welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to not legalise same sex marriages and barring couples from adoption.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) has been steadfast in its opposition to such unions, dubbing them as “unnatural”. The BJP, too, has been against same sex marriages, even as both the party and the Sangh lent support to the demand for decriminalizing homosexuality.

Soon after the SC verdict on Same Sex marriages, cthe Chief Spokesperson of the RSS said, the decision regarding same sex marriage is “welcome” and India’s “democratic parliamentary system can seriously discuss all the issues related to this and take appropriate decisions.”

Besides, VHP's Alok Kumar also said, “Today we are satisfied that the Supreme Court, after listening to all the concerned parties including Hindu, Muslim and Christian followers, has given the decision that the relationship between two homosexuals in the form of marriage, is not eligible for registration. This is not even their fundamental right. Not giving homosexuals the right to adopt a child is also a good step,” Kumar said.
