Rajnath Singh visits French fighter jet engine maker SAFRAN as speculation arise on Indo-French Engine deal

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited a Safran jet engine manufacturing facility in Paris on Wednesday to see the latest breakthroughs in aero-engine technology.Singh's visit to the Gennevilliers site was significant since Safran is considering co-developing a fighter aircraft engine in India as part of a mammoth project.

 

Following his trip to Italy, the defence minister is in France. Singh also met with CEOs of prominent French defence businesses in Paris, emphasizing the benefits of co-development and co-production of defence gear in India, which he claimed might be sold to other nations.

 

 

According to the defence ministry, Singh visited the Safran Engine Division's R&D Center in Gennevilliers, near Paris, to see the newest breakthroughs in aero-engine technology.

 

According to the statement, Olivier Andries, the Global CEO of Safran, welcomed the defence minister to the plant and provided him with a full briefing together with his team.

 

"Safran expressed interest in being a part of the Indian growth story by working with its counterparts on mutually agreed joint projects," according to a statement issued by the government.

 

According to the report, Singh also met with the CEOs of the leading French defense businesses to discuss their intentions for partnership with India.

 

The discussion was attended by Dassault Aviation CEO Eric Trappier, Naval Group CEO Pierre Eric Pommellet, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, and Safran's Andries.

 

"Rajnath Singh highlighted the advantages of co-development and co-production in India, including possibilities of exports to third countries," the ministry said in a statement.

 

"He underlined the inherent advantages of the Indian market such as a large, skilled HR base, world class infrastructure and a strong legal architecture," according to the report.

 

Later in the day, Singh will meet with French Minister of Defence Sebastien Lecornu for the sixth India-France defence conversation.

 

Singh arrived in Paris late on October 10th. He also mingled with the French capital's Indian community.

 

While speaking to the large Indian population at India House, he emphasized India's many successes in the defence industry, such as increasing defence exports and an increase in indigenous manufacture of defence equipment.

According to the defence ministry, he spoke about India's "tremendous progress" during the previous nine years, an assessment that was warmly backed by the Indian community.
