History was scripted in 1989 when India witnessed a woman to become the Judge of Supreme Court for the first time. And this history was scripted by M Fathima Beevi, who also became the first Muslim to be appointed to any of the higher judiciaries of India.
However, her tenure as the Governor of Tamil Nadu remained a controversial one due to loosened law and order situation in the state, with her sudden removal ordered by the then Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley.
