Brampton, September 21: In a shocking development, the demand for an independent state of Khalistan, has once again started gaining a voice in Canada, which is considered a haven place for Khalistani Supporter.
More than a lakh Sikh Khalistani supporters, living outside Punjab, gathered in Brampton, and took part in voting in the so-called Khalistan Referendum demanding an independent state of Khalistan.
The Referendum is organised by the Pro-Khalistani Group Sikh For Justice (SJF), a US-based secessionist group that supports the secession of Punjab from India as Khalistan. The SJF was banned in India in 2019 as an unlawful association.
The Khalistan referendum is the demand of carving out a separate country from Punjab. Rather amusingly, the Khalistan supporters also demanded that Shimla, in Himachal Pradesh, be the capital of this imaginary country.
Visuals on social media showed a huge number of men, and women queueing up to vote in for Khalistan Referendum. The photos of that ballot question that was asked at the Khalistan referendum in Canada, have gone viral on social media.
It is being said that this referendum was only an exercise by certain groups and individuals to safeguard their hold over the Canadian and North American GUrudwara and to gain stronger financial and political power.
More disappointingly, when some Indo-Canadian citizens wrote to their respective governments and asked them to take action against the Khalistan Referendum, none of the Canadian politicians responded except the Mayor of Brampton, who too showed his inability to cancel the event.
According to some media house reports, the Canadian government has already refused to stop Canadian Sikhs from holding the Khalistan Referendum and linking it with a "peaceful and democratic process" within the legal parameters of the country's laws. Looking at all scenarios, it getting more clear that Justin Trudeau is providing a haven for anti-Indian activities.
What is more shocking is that the Indian government and Indian consulate have not taken cognizance of the Anti- Indian government. Even the External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar who is on an 11-day visit to Canada's neighboring state the US also seems to ignore the anti-Indian development. Many Indians have started taking a dig at the Indian government for not taking cognizance of the serious matter.
