Episode 6. 75 Legendary Women Of India - Laxmibai Kelkar

On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, NewsBharati has come up with an initiative to celebrate India's Independence. We have tried to attempt to introduce 75 Legendary Women of India who have made immense contributions in their respective fields.

Attracted by the ideology of the RSS, Laxmibai Kelkar met its founder Dr. Hedgewar and expressed her keen interest to join the Sangha for Rashtra Seva.

Until then the RSS had no women volunteering for seva. It was a distinctive initiative taken by Kelkar. Dr. Hedgewar, realizing the zeal of women to serve the nation, motivated Laxmibai to unite women who wish to perform 'seva' for the nation.

And this is how, in 1936 the Rashtra Sevika Samiti was established because of the dynamism that Laxmibai Kelkar associated with the Sangha. The Samiti serves the Bharat even today.
