ASI announces free entry to protected monuments for Indian and Foreigner visitors

New Delhi, Aug 4: In a bid to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in grandeur, ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) has announced free entry to visitors at all the ASI protected monuments across the country. The entry will be free for the next 10 days from Aug 5.

According to the recent announcement by the Union Ministry of Culture, visitors will be availed with free entry to all the ASI protected sites across India, in order to celebrate 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' with another unique initiative. The government made the announcement on Wednesday (Aug 3) as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th Independence Day celebrations.

As per the statement, the free entry has been facilitated for all Indian nationals as well as foreigner visitors to the monuments under the aegis of the ASI. Making it public on Twitter, Union Culture Minister, G Kishan Reddy tweeted, "As part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th I-Day celebrations, ASI - GoI has made entry free for visitors and tourists to all its protected monuments and sites across the country, from Aug 5th - Aug 15th, 2022."

Around 3,600 monuments and sites across India are designated as ASI-protected monuments. However, only 116 out of the 3,600 monuments are ticketed, which will be exempted from entry fee from Aug 5, until independence day.
