Jharkhand: Accused Shahrukh smiles after getting arrested for setting Hindu girl ablaze for refusing his love proposal; WATCH-

In a horrifying incident, Ankita Kumari, was in a hospital in Dumka, Jharkhand after Shahrukh Hussain poured petrol on her and set fire to her four days ago. She breathed her last on Sunday (August 28). This came after she did not reciprocate his love proposal.

 

 

The police said the accused has been arrested. Shahrukh Hussain was seen smiling and no regrets on his face when he was being taken to a police car with handcuffs.

 

 

 

On August 23, accused Shahrukh poured petrol on her and set her ablaze in a case of unrequited love. According to the reports, he was neighbour.

 

According to police, Shahrukh used to harass Ankita every day. He used follow her everywhere to seek friendship. He had also obtained her phone number and stalked her. When Ankita chastised him for not stopping, he threatened to kill her. Ankita said to the police that after informing her father about the threat on phone calls, she went to sleep in her room.

 

 

When she woke up the next morning, her body was in flames as she ran up to family members who attempted to extinguish the fire. Her family then hurried her to the hospital. It was found in the hospital that Ankita had suffered severe burns. It turned out that Shahrukh went to Ankita’s house on Tuesday morning, poured petrol on Ankita through a window when she was asleep in her bed and torched her, and then fled from the scene.

 

 

A student of class 12, Ankita Kumari was taken to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka in critical condition. Later she was referred to Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for better treatment. Doctors said Ankita's body suffered 95 per cent burns.

 

 

Speaking to ANI, Dumka Superintendent of police (SP) Ambar Lakda said, "The accused Shahrukh has been arrested. We will apply at fast track court for a fast trial. People are cooperating with us. We appeal to people to maintain peace. The situation is under control and Section 144 has been imposed."
