In Pakistan, a young female teacher from the Sikh community was kidnapped on Saturday, and on the next day, her family was informed that the young girl is now married to a Muslim person.

Islamabad, Aug 22: In yet another case of forced conversion in Pakistan, the Sikh community in the Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan organized massive protests after a female Sikh teacher was forcibly abducted and converted to Islam and married off to her abductor.

Deena Kaur, daughter of Gurucharan Singh, was reported to be abducted at gunpoint, raped, and married to her abductor with the help of local administration and police. Due to such continued forced conversions in Pakistan, massive protests are being held. Videos of the protests surfaced in which Sikhs can be seen protesting and raising various slogans outside a police station in Pakistan.
 
 
 
The young female teacher from the Sikh community was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday, and on the next day, her family was informed that the young girl is now married to a Muslim person. When her family approached the police station where nobody cared to register their complaint. According to the family members, the local police have not registered any FIR and have asked the Sikhs to be silent on this issue.
 
Seeing the discrimination and oppression, hundreds of Sikhs and other locals blocked the road and demanded justice.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has expressed concern over this incident. Tagging the government of Pakistan in his tweet, Sirsa said, “How can a family silently watch its daughters being forcibly converted and emotionally exploited? This is against basic human rights and we stand in support of the Sikh brothers of Pakistan. I urge India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Ji to intervene in this matter.”
 
 
He added, “I urge the External Affairs Minister to hold talks on the issue of minority Sikhs in Pakistan. Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office is also not paying attention to this. Our earlier tweets on the safety of Sikhs in Pakistan have been ignored.”
 
There have been several cases of forced conversion where girls/women are abducted, forcefully converted and married to the Muslim abductor.
 
Many Sikh families are settled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan and they are mostly engaged in businesses. The minority community, including the Sikhs, Hindus and Christians from different parts of Pakistan have been facing persecution and their girls are regularly being kidnapped, raped and married to their abductors.
