On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, NewsBharati has come up with an initiative to celebrate India's Independence. We have tried to attempt to introduce 75 Legendary Women of India who have made immense contributions in their respective fields.


In her first address to Lok Sabha, Rajkumari Bibiji Amrit Kaur, India's First Health Minister said, “It has been one of my cherished dreams that for post-graduate study and for the maintenance of high standards of medical education in our country, we should have an institute of this nature which would enable our young men and women to have their post-graduate education in their own country.”
This is how her dedicated work for the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences started, with AIIMS being established in New Delhi, in 1956. The first woman in Nehru's cabinet and a member of the constituent assembly, Amrit Kaur had always supported the Uniform Civil Code.
