Even at a time when India has celebrated its 75th independence day, freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar continue to face criticism over their role in freedom fighting. Why even sacrificing his ‘liberty’ for Bharat, Savarkar is still in 'Kaala Pani'? Why do people who have never read true history, often question their role in the freedom struggle?

Kerala

All thanks to the part of intellectual people, historians, and the Congress party who never miss a chance to tarnish the legacy of Veer Savarkar.

This time, while continuing their legacy, Kerala's Congress party now tries to sow a seed of hatred in the minds of the young generation. Saying that Veer Damodar Savar is not a freedom fighter, congress staged a protest against Government Vocational Higher Secondary School after a school student dressed up as VD Savarkar during an Independence Day procession.

As per the reports, this comes after, a child dressed as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, took part in the rally organised on the occasion of the Independence day celebration. Soon after several teachers notice him, they removed him before the procession giving the reason that, Savarkar's name was not listed as a freedom fighter. The school authorities have asked for an explanation from the sub-committee.

After the news about it spreads in the district, the activist of the activists of the Youth Congress and the Youth League--the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)-- held protest marches towards the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Keezhooparamba. They sought action against those who dressed the child as Savarkar. The student wings of IUML and MSF locked teachers inside the classroom.

More shockingly, when some private media house asked government school authorities, "Why they haven't taken any action against the protest?" The school authority uttered that Savarkar is not a freedom fighter.

If this is the thinking of the school authorities, then how can one think that young minds will learn real history about Savarkar? It is because of them that young minds have never got a chance to study the real history of India the true legacy of Veer Damodar Savarkar who was the first person who recongnised that the 1857 uprising was not a mutiny.
