She had 22 state-level victories in her kitty. Such was her contribution, she became the first Indian sportswoman to be awarded the Padma Shri.
Arati had put Indian swimming on the map. On what would have been her 80th birthday, Google had honored her with a doodle.
Saha might be gone but her perseverance and grit made many girls take up the sport.
