Supporting Manimekali Moitra had said earlier, "You have the freedom to imagine your goddess." And that "To me, Kaali is a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess...There are some places where whiskey is offered to gods and in some other places it would be blasphemy." BJP Social Media Head Amit Malviya responded to Moitra's statement saying "Freedom of speech is only for insulting Hindu Goddesses. From MF Hussain to Owaisi to now Moitra, all have selectively targeted the Hindu religion because they know that Hindus are tolerant."
