New Delhi, Jul 27: After scam-accused TMC leader Partha Chatterjee was moved to Odisha from West Bengal for treatment, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now moved the Delhi High Court seeking AAP minister Satyendar Jain's removal from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital.
The ED stated, in its plea, that the LNJP hospital is directly under the control of the Delhi government and that there is a likelihood that the medical report of Satyendar Jain will be biased.
The ED further stated that Satyendar Jain is extremely influential and that medical examination should be conducted by doctors from AIIMS, RML, or Safdarjung hospital. Satyendar Jain was admitted to LNJP hospital on July 15. He was admitted once in June as well after a dip in his oxygen level. Jain, 57, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on May 30 under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
He is being probed by the agency under the PMLA on charges of alleged hawala dealings. April, the ED had attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crore belonging to Jain's family and companies "beneficially owned and controlled" by him as part of the probe.
